Pray.

"The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." James 5:16b

Prayer is important for so many reasons, but primarily because Jesus prayed frequently and fervently. If Christ looked to His heavenly Father for guidance and asked Him to work during His time on earth, how much more important is it for us as His followers to regard prayer as being of utmost importance? I firmly believe that apart from prayer nothing can be accomplished, and I know that it is only through prayer that I can even hope to be an effective vessel while on the field in Thailand.

If it's not already obvious - I covet your prayers! People who pray are those who enter into spiritual battle on your behalf, and I know that I will need warriors on my side while I am in Thailand.

Pray that God will break me and remove me from in front of the message He brings, so that I may fade to the background as He increases. Pray that my heart would be so grounded in the Word that nothing could distract me from the purpose that He has given me in going to Thailand.

Pray that the hearts of the Thai people that I encounter would have soft hearts to the Gospel, and that the veil would be removed from their eyes to see the hope that Jesus offers that cannot be found in an endless pursuit of good karma.

Pray for the missionaries on the field in Thailand and the BSC - Liz Swauger, Claire Cecil, John Lapos and his family, the Clarkson family - that they would be encouraged and renewed to press on towards the goal.

Pray for the Spotswood Team that will be in Thailand from Aug. 8th-19th - that they would be effective, encouraging, "flexitive" (flexible & positive), Gospel-focused, healthy and that each individual would grow in their personal walk with God.

Give.

As of this morning, the balance on my fundraising account was only $25!! Praise God! He has been so faithful to provide through friends, family, Spotswood Baptist Church family, a benefit concert...I am blown away at what a non-issue raising money for these 3 months on the field has been!

However, if you feel led to contribute financially, here's how you can still get involved:

1) Give to the Spotswood Missions fund. Spotswood donated generously to me, as well as the other members of the shorter-term team that is headed to Bangkok, and the only way that the body can continue to do so for mission teams is to continue to have their missions fund built up by those who give. Any money donated specifically to "Spotswood Missions"will go to cover the costs of the team that is being sent as well as future missionaries that are commissioned through Spotswood. Checks can be made out to "SBC," mailed to 4009 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408, and are tax deductible.

2) Give to my sisters and fellow short-term missionaries, Liz and Claire. Both will be living and working alongside me while I am in Thailand, and when I leave they will stay on for an additional 6 months. Both have links on their webpages for people to donate, and these webpages can be found by clicking on their names above.

3) Give to Home of New Beginnings (see My Spot & Home of New Beginnings entry). Donations from the US can be mailed to:
